| Hi there, |
| |
|
We all know that the Internet is where people go to find
information. As people involved in the booming Information
Product industry can attest to, many people are willing to
pay to get information. And many more people like to get
their information for f r e e. I don't blame them...I get
plenty of information from the Internet and don't pay a dime
for most of it. :-)
If you're an information or service provider, you know that
it can become quite overwhelming when you get flurries of
emails from individuals asking for individual help. And even
though, we might like to help everyone, it's just really not
possible. If we want to move ahead in our business and to
still have a life outside of the Internet (yes, it IS
possible), we have to set up systems to make the most of our
time.
You may have read my blog last week and heard that one of my
subscribers/customers was very disappointed in me because
they found I was unapproachable. The entry is here:
http://www.aliceseba.com/nosweetie.html
I really did understand where he was coming from and tried
to look at where I did wrong. Clearly, I could see
where I may have given people the wrong impression about how
'available' I am. I have corrected that. If you have
suggestions on where else I may be going wrong, please do
post a comment.
Enough about that because this email isn't really about me.
It's about you. I know that I have my Sweeties subscribed to
my mailing lists and I suspect that you are somewhat of a
Sweetie too (am I right?!). It can be really tough when you
can't respond to everyone who emails you or asks you for
help, but if you want your business to grown and continue to
be exceedingly profitable, you have to stop this.
Let me ask you a question:
- Are you a service provider, who is giving away his
services for free because so many needy people are asking
you for freebies?
- Are you answering a growing number personal emails from
people because...well because they emailed you?
....and is all of this preventing you from growing your
business and helping your readers as a whole?
Now, I'm not saying that you don't help anyone and ignore
everyone that emails you. Of course not! But you have to
draw a line and you should put things into place that can
help you provide assistance with as many people as possible.
It's something I talk about in my Internet Marketing Sweetie
course. It's here, if you'd like to learn more:
http://www.internetmarketingsweetie.com
...but here's some of the tips I always share with people
who are struggling with this:
1. Set up a blog or website where people can leave comments
or questions.
2. Set up a forum where people can discuss issues with their
peers and you can also provide assistance where appropriate.
3. Conduct teleseminars on topics that interest your readers
and include question and answer periods.
4. Create a FAQ (frequently asked questions) area of your
website that helps people with the questions you get asked
the most.
5. Offer a special paid membership where people who really
would like to get your attention can have an opportunity to
ask you questions in a smaller group.
Your time is valuable, so value it. Most people who email
you don't know what your day is like or how busy you are, so
they may not realize that it's tough for you to answer all
the individual questions. If you have a system in place to
provide people with the answers to their questions, where it
benefits the most people at one time, your business will run
much more smoothly.
Being a sweetie doesn't mean being a doormat. It means being
smart with your time and helping as many people as you can -
without sacrificing your business or sanity!
Take care,
Alice Seba
